Women Accusing Harvey Weinstein Speak Out Onscreen

It’s been two years since the Harvey Weinstein scandal broke, and the story is still unfolding. Since many of you who follow ProSocial are in the entertainment industry or are working to achieve social change, you may be interested in the documentary “Untouchable: The Rise and Fall of Harvey Weinstein.” Featuring interviews with several of the women who are advancing the #MeToo movement by stepping forward with their allegations of assault, the film also delves into the forces that enabled Weinstein, including colleagues who now regret the role they played and members of the media who didn’t report on his domineering behavior. Voice recordings and documents demonstrate the lengths Weinstein went to silence accusations against him.

ProSocial partnered with RAINN (Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network) and other organizations working on women’s advocacy, sexual violence prevention, and mental health in order to lift up the stories of the women in the film and to ensure that audiences were made aware of resources, whether they were triggered by the content or looking to get more involved with the issues.

Though the stories of abuse in “Untouchable” are disturbing, director Ursula MacFarlane also hopes viewers find the film inspiring, she explains—encouraging more people to speak out about their own abuse or in support of survivors.

“Untouchable” premiered on September 2, 2019, and is available to stream on Hulu.
